Job summary

TE Connectivity Corporation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to focus on sustainability, optimization, and continuous improvement of extrusion and twinax cable maintenance equipment. You will bridge engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing to ensure uptime and optimal machine conditions.

The role emphasizes diagnostic, repair, and improvement of mechanical systems, with strong emphasis on PID control, SCADA integration, preventive maintenance, and data-driven performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with extrusion and twinax cable maintenance equipment.
• Strong expertise in automation and control systems.
• Proven diagnostic, repair, and improvement skills for mechanical systems.
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Familiarity with data acquisition, SPC, and process monitoring.
• Basic knowledge of electrical concepts such as signal integrity, Hi-Pot, impedance.
• Experience with SAP or CMMS for maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and reliability initiatives on bulk cable equipment.
• Develop upgrades to improve process stability, throughput, and quality.
• Assist maintenance teams in diagnosing failures on extruders and related lines.
• Tune control parameters (PID, temperature zones, line speed, torque).
• Repair extrusion heads, dies, and winding systems; coordinate with vendors.
• Evaluate and integrate new instrumentation and control platforms.
• Analyze downtime and process drift; implement sustainable solutions.
• Create PM standards, SOPs, lubrication plans, calibration routines, LOTO checklists.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering for line modifications.
• Ensure safety and EH&S compliance during interventions.

Job Overview

Technician should focus on the sustainability, optimization, and continuous improvement of extrusion and twinax cable maintenance equipment, will specialize in process/maintenance reliability, mechanical improvements, and control system optimization across high-speed cable lines. Acts as a bridge between engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing—ensuring uptime and optimal machine conditions.

Job Requirements

Key Skills & Knowledge

• Deep technical understanding of complex mechanical systems such as extrusion/molding systems.
• intermedium Expertise in control systems and automation (PID loops, servo drives, dancer control, tension feedback, PLC logic, and SCADA integration).
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and improve mechanical systems, tooling interfaces
• Strong background in preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability engineering (RCM, FMEA, MTBF tracking).
• Desired experience with data acquisition systems, SPC tools, and process monitoring for performance analysis.
• Desired basic knowledge of concepts like signal integrity/electrical Hi-pot, impedance.
• Competent in SAP or CMMS systems for planning and documenting maintenance or improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute equipment maintenance/repair/evaluation/reliability control initiatives for bulk cable equipments.
• Develop and implement mechanical or automation upgrades to improve process stability, throughput, and quality performance.
• Support maintenance teams in diagnosing complex failures on extruders, taping lines, capstans, or dancer/tension systems.
• Define and optimize control parameters (PID tuning, synchronization, temperature zones, pressure, line speed, and torque).
• Repair and refurbishment of extrusion heads, dies, taping units, and winding systems—both locally and with external vendors.
• support technology scouting: evaluate and integrate new instrumentation, sensors, control platforms, or mechanical systems that enhance process reliability.
• Conduct data-driven analysis of downtime and process drift; implement sustainable solutions to eliminate chronic issues.
• Develop documentation and preventive maintenance standards (SOPs, lubrication plans, calibration routines, LOTO checklists).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to transfer new technologies or line modifications into production.
• Ensure compliance with safety and EH&S standards during interventions, modifications, or upgrades.

What your background should look like

Typically requires 5-6 years or more of related work experience. Requires high school diploma. Completion of an AA degree or equivalent is preferred.
