Scopely is looking for a Lead Software Engineer, Web/Full Stack to join our Pokémon GO Engineering team within the Niantic division in Mexico City on a hybrid basis working 3 days a week from the hub.

What You Will Do

We are seeking an adventurous Lead Software Engineer, Web/Full Stack. The ideal candidate loves to jump into the unknown, clarify ambiguities, quickly learn from failures, and break down vague ideas into concrete tasks.

  • Build and lead a high‑performing, cross‑functional team of engineers, designers, and program managers based in Mexico City.
  • Architect and implement high‑impact web full‑stack features end‑to‑end.
  • Create well‑designed, reusable services and components that can be shared across Niantic’s web applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and product teams to ensure the goal of any product is aligned with the delivered feature or service.
  • Participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and conduct troubleshooting to ensure uptime for live systems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional team members and stakeholders to cultivate strong working relationships, including regular attendance and reliable participation in meetings.
What We’re Looking For
  • BS/MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in full‑stack web development or related fields.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, strong cross‑functional collaboration, and leading projects.
  • Proven track record delivering projects involving multiple contributors.
  • Proficiency across multiple domains (e.g. cloud infrastructure, backend, frontend) and ability to learn and deliver products using new technologies.
  • Strong experience with modern JavaScript technologies and frameworks (GraphQL, React, Node).
  • Demonstrated ability to propose, implement, and launch high‑impact features.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, handle stress, and to solve practical problems while being adaptable to dynamic situations.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional teams, communicating effectively, both written and verbal, including synchronous interactions with others.
  • Fluency in Spanish and ability to travel to Scopely’s global offices, including the US, Japan, Spain, Tokyo, Barcelona, etc.
