Overview
Application Support Engineer to be based in Villahermosa, Tabasco. As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing L2 application & workflow support to users (internal & external). You will also act as a proxy in communication with the Engineering team regarding the services DDH provides.
Responsibilities
- Service Operations Execution — executing data loading procedures, computing Rig states / Drill states and drilling KPI, checking results of the computations and configuring computation parameters, configuring new drilling KPI on demand.
- Infrastructure Management — servers, virtual machines, Oracle database, backup / recovery solution, administration of Performance Insights.
- Customer & workflow support — ensuring system availability for users, consulting on user workflow, KPI presentation, collecting user requirements and communicating with the engineering team. Manage support requests/tickets over Enterprise Service Management (ESM) according to the applicable Service Level Agreement.
Good knowledge of D&I Digital technologies (e.g., Performance Insights, DrillOps, DrillPlan) and other 3rd party applications such as Oracle, Power BI, PowerApps, with excellent customer communication skills are key success factors for this position. Familiarity with the drilling domain is a definite plus.
The candidate must be a self-starter, understand responsibility and accountability for each task, and be able to work autonomously in a remote collaboration environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain Infrastructure – ensure all servers and VMs are running, monitor backups, and ensure the application is accessible by users. VMs are on Azure.
- Administer Performance Insights system – create new projects on demand, configure pre-default templates, manage user access to projects.
- Maintain data flow – configure automated data loading and QC procedures for drilling sensors data and daily drilling reports; monitor data loading process and report QC issues to users.
- Maintain computation of drilling KPI – configure RigState and DrillState computations, configure KPI computations, monitor computations, and verify quality against daily drilling data.
- Provide help and consultation to users on accessing and using RigHour system, and explain KPI meanings and values.
- Collect user requirements.
- Configure new drilling KPIs.
- Communicate issues and user requirements with Performance Insights engineering team.
- Notify customers with New Releases and Technical Alerts.
Skills & Qualifications
- Oracle database – knowledge of SQL; experience with 3rd party tools such as Oracle PL/SQL Developer.
- Preferable – understanding & knowledge of Microsoft PowerApps suite.
- Preferable – understanding & knowledge of Data Analytics methodology.
- Preferable – understanding & knowledge of Cloud Platforms (e.g., AZURE, AWS, GCP).
- Basic knowledge of Schlumberger Techlog, Techlog Drilling Interpretation.
- Basic knowledge of E&P.
- Basic knowledge of Schlumberger InterACT, WITSML, Data Aggregator, Bluebox, Edge Devices.
- Good knowledge of drilling domain, specifically well construction phases (drilling, casing, tripping, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of operating systems – Linux, Windows Server.
- Basic knowledge of IIS Web server and Active Directory/LDAP.
- Basic knowledge of Network architecture and other infrastructure components.

- Fluent in English – verbal & written.

- Adaptable and comfortable working in a global, international, and multicultural environment with daily remote collaboration.
- Experience/knowledge of dealing with customers and software engineering teams.
Education
- Minimum: BS degree in IT, Engineering or Oil & Gas discipline with IT experience.
- 3 years of experience in the advertised skillsets.
