Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer for a fully remote position. You will design, implement, and manage advanced security solutions to protect critical assets, develop security policies, conduct risk assessments, and respond to incidents.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in information security, strong knowledge of NIST, SIEM/IDS/IPS, firewalls, EDR, IAM, and cloud security across AWS/Azure/GCP. Excellent communication and independent work capabilities are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 7+ years of information security engineering or similar experience.
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks (NIST), and best practices.
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for networks, systems, and applications.
• Proficiency with SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, EDR, and IAM solutions; cloud security experience desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security infrastructure and solutions across the organization.
• Develop and maintain information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct regular security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
• Oversee the implementation and management of security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection).
• Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, and remediation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security staff.
• Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all systems and processes.
• Manage security awareness training programs for employees.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and standards.
