Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group has an opening for an HIL Modeling Engineer to develop and maintain plant and system models for HIL testing of automotive ECUs and vehicle systems. The role emphasizes MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, NI, and automotive communication protocols.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of automotive HIL/modeling experience required.
• Experience with major HIL platforms (dSPACE, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk).
• Knowledge of CAN/CAN FD and LIN automotive communication protocols.
• Experience in ECU testing and vehicle-level validation.
• Scripting experience in Python, CAPL, or MATLAB.
• Understanding of control systems and ECU architecture.
• Familiarity with SIL/MIL/HIL methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain plant, component, and system models for HIL simulation.
• Create mathematical/physics models using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Integrate models into HIL platforms like dSPACE or NI.
• Configure and troubleshoot HIL test environments.
• Support ECU integration, functional and regression testing.
• Develop models for powertrain, chassis, body, thermal, ADAS, or vehicle systems.
• Work with CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet.
• Analyze results and troubleshoot model/ECU issues.
• Support model validation against real vehicle or bench data.
• Collaborate with controls, embedded software, systems, and validation teams.
• Document models, configurations, and test environments.

We are seeking a HIL Modeling Engineer to develop, integrate, and maintain plant and system models for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of automotive ECUs and vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, NI, CAN communication, and automotive control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain plant, component, and system-level models for HIL simulation.
• Develop mathematical and physics-based models using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Integrate models into HIL platforms such as dSPACE or NI.
• Configure and troubleshoot HIL test environments.
• Support ECU integration, functional testing, and regression testing.
• Implement models for powertrain, chassis, body, thermal, ADAS, or other vehicle systems.
• Work with CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet communication.
• Analyze simulation and test results and troubleshoot model/ECU issues.
• Support model validation and correlation against real vehicle or test-bench data.
• Collaborate with controls, embedded software, systems, and validation teams.
• Develop documentation for models, configurations, and test environments.

Required Skills
