At Soho House the Membership Manager is responsible for directly looking after the recruitment of new members and maintaining the club's carefully chosen membership base. The role is the face of the club for members, on hand for their feedback and thoughts, as well as a custodian presiding over access to the club, preserving club rules and conduct. The role drives and maintains the productivity and relationship of the membership committee and takes an active role in members' events and benefits, supporting the management team as needed.


Responsibilities


  • Upholds Soho House brand standards.

  • Responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with members and the committee.

  • Assists in generating applications for the waitlist through networks and knowledge of the creative industries.

  • Reports to the Head of Membership and Membership Director, LATAM, in the maintenance and management of the membership committee, spread across all the major creative industries.

  • Supports the Head of Membership in reviewing all new member applications, meeting applicants for coffee or virtual chats.

  • Day-to-day manages the membership admin team, liaising when necessary to resolve any issues with cards, payments or applicant paperwork.

  • Supports membership team with retention of members and follow-up on resignations and freezes.

  • Maintains a constant presence in the club, being the 'face' of the house to members and ensuring new members meet and understand the club rules.

  • Plays an active part in the creation and implementation of the members' events program, helping to ensure events are well planned and communicated.

  • Welcome new members in house and host new member introductions to ensure they understand the club rules and membership.

  • Promotes the club directly to appropriate new members through tours around the facilities and permitting choice individuals to experience the club via guest listing.

  • Engages in the local creative and club scenes, developing contacts, networking and building awareness about the club and its facilities.

  • When appropriate, facilitates access to the club for visiting high‑profile celebrities and personalities.

  • For major events, both on and off site, plays a central role in putting together the guest list(s) and ensuring members and VIPs get access, as applicable.

  • Educates the Soho House management and staff about how to generate applications from potential new members and identify new committee members.


Requirements


  • 3+ years of relative experience with a proven track record of leading a professional, high-quality, service-oriented operation.

  • 2+ years of management experience.

  • A long-term city resident with extensive knowledge of the local area and a personal network of contacts in art, film, television, music, media and culinary industries.

  • Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and the ability to travel and attend various social functions in the Los Angeles area.

  • A sophisticated communicator with high standards of performance and excellent communication, problem‑solving and listening skills.

  • A charismatic, confident creative individual with in-depth knowledge of the local marketplace.

  • Experience dealing with celebrities and high‑profile events.

  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.

  • Ability to create strong relationships with guests, members and staff.
