This role offers the opportunity to work on a widely-used web platform serving millions of readers globally. You will contribute to both frontend and backend development, delivering high-quality features and enhancing the user experience. The position requires collaborating with a small, skilled team to maintain and evolve the platform, while having autonomy to shape technical solutions. You will tackle complex problems, optimize performance, and integrate external services, ensuring reliability, scalability, and accessibility. This is a fully remote, full-time contractor role that values technical excellence, creativity, and a passion for web technologies.

Accountabilities:

• Developing and enhancing the React.js frontend, implementing modern UI/UX and accessibility principles.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining ASP.NET Core services, APIs (REST/gRPC), and integrations.
• Collaborating with other developers and project managers to deliver end-to-end features.
• Debugging, optimizing, and monitoring performance across frontend and backend.
• Working with databases, caching, and data models to ensure efficient data handling.
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to architectural decisions.
• Occasionally engaging with non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in React.js and .NET Core/ASP.NET Core.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and C#, with knowledge of web performance best practices.
• Experience building complex, end-to-end applications with rich business logic.
• Familiarity with API design and consumption, integration with external services, and relational databases (EF Core).
• Understanding of web UI/UX, animations, accessibility, and cross-browser nuances.
• Experience with testing (unit, integration, E2E), OAuth, security fundamentals, and CI/CD.
• Independent, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Passion or background in literature, web novels, or online publishing is a plus.
