Bluelight is a leading software consultancy seeking a senior backend developer. You will design and build high-quality, low-latency APIs in Node.js/TypeScript, integrate with AWS services, and ensure robust data models in PostgreSQL/AuroraDB.

You’ll work on scalable, secure multi-tenant systems and contribute to testing, CI/CD, and occasional frontend tasks. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript skills.
• Experience building low-latency APIs in AWS and scalable RESTful services.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and SQL, incl. migrations.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
