Job summary

Watlow, a global leader in engineering and manufacturing of thermal products, seeks an entry-level Manufacturing Operations Engineer 1 at its plants in El Marqués, Querétaro. You will work closely with a mentor to support manufacturing processes, participate in problem solving, and help implement improvements that meet safety, quality, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 1-2 years of related experience; internships, co-ops, capstone projects or academic lab experience welcomed.
• Basic exposure to troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues from coursework or hands-on projects.
• Demonstrated interest in manufacturing, process improvement, or hands-on engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned manufacturing processes/value streams as a technical resource for production issues and questions, escalating to senior engineers as needed.
• Monitor process performance (scrap, rework, OEE, throughput, changeover time, labor productivity) and help develop corrective actions.
• Participate in structured problem solving (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, PDCA) with experienced engineers to address safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Create and maintain clear standard work, instructions, and training materials for operators and technicians.
• Support capital equipment projects, vendor communication, design reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, and production ramp-up.
• Help develop equipment validation plans and improve tooling to enhance throughput and quality.
• Learn Lean principles (5S/6S, visual management, flow, SMED, error proofing) and identify improvement opportunities.
• Assist in evaluating automation and digital solutions and track realized savings.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transfers with manufacturable processes and equipment.
