Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking an EHS Manager for the Salvarcar Site in Ciudad Juarez. You will lead the Environmental Health & Safety function, coordinate risk-based programs, and ensure regulatory compliance across the plant.

You will drive safety training, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives, partnering with operations and senior leadership to sustain a safe working environment.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Medical Device industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Knowledge of Mexican health, safety and environmental regulations.

Purpose

Contributes to the Environmental Health & Safety team by managing a team of individual contributors and/or Supervisors, and is accountable for conducting effective performance management. Develops tactical and operational plans for the Environmental Health & Safety team and supports organizational objectives and business goals. Allocates resources to meet objectives and goals of the health & safety area. Directs operations for strategic initiatives and serves as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders.

You Will Be Responsible For

In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Oversees the development, planning and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies and procedures within the company.
  • Ensures compliance with local government regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety and handles contract with appropriate agencies.
  • Coaches and advises the environmental, health and safety staff and management on ways to improve outcomes and programs in their areas.
  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where environmental, health and safety hazards exist.
  • Oversees the development of company training programs for employees in areas such as hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, electrical safety, and machine safety.
  • Coordinates various councils and teams to reduce exposure to environmental, health and safety issues. Manages these teams to implement necessary companywide changes.
  • Provides upper management with ongoing consultation pertaining to environmental, health and safety regulations identifying the impacts of changes to regulations on key business objectives.
  • Demonstrates a strong capacity to organize, plan and implement occupational safety and environmental programs and solves related problems. Under minimum supervision, faces projects that require advanced knowledge of the environmental area and of occupational safety from analysis to implementation. Acts as trainer and mentor to subordinate personnel; assists the director in the management of technical personnel of this area.
  • Develops and implements the fundaments of occupational safety and environment that complies with the regulations of safety and environment that regulate the company, as well as the program for operating companies supported by J&J. Participates in a variety of management activities in occupational safety and environment at plant level, such as providing assistance to the management with risk assessments and risk studies (of safety and environment), participates in safety and health committees in the plant, supervises operation procedures for the compliance with the appropriate occupational safety and environment practices and incident investigations.
  • Ensure that there is a consistent safety method through the operating companies supported by J&J Health & Safety. Monitor the progress of all occupational and environmental safety programs, provide leadership, technical support, and professional experience to ensure that corporate and operational goals are met.
  • Provides technical experience in the areas of accident and illness prevention, physical risks evaluation, aspect evaluation and their environmental impact, development of new processes, equipment, and products. Identification of appropriate equipment for personal protection, interpretation of safety standards and fleet safety. Ensures that all the files are prepared, maintained, and delivered on time. Participates as internal expert in corporate committees and support groups.
  • Develops specific, useful trainings and educational programs for the use of the plant. Develops standardized emergency preparation plans in accordance with the management. Participates in external audits and government agencies inspections.
  • Ensures that the Environment Administration System is established, implemented, and maintained, according to the guidelines of J&J and international standards.
  • Reports the functioning of the Environment Administration System to the Management for its revision, and as base for the improvement of the System.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications / Requirements
  • University / bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably: B. S. in Safety or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering / Science, Safety Engineering/Sciences or Chemical Engineering
  • Generally, requires 8-10 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field, preferably
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of specific business practices and software and software applications
  • Able to enter data on spread sheet and database applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele base.
  • Experience maintaining ledgers and other fiscal documents.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and the public.
  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures and in to comply civil rights requirements.
  • Knowledge of Mexican laws regarding safety; knowledge of safety, ergonomics, occupational and environmental hygiene. Knowledge of environmental programs and laws.
