Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Provides semi-professional technical support in the field of environmental control. Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Encompasses processes and infrastructure for the supply of water, disposal of waste, control of pollution, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Encompasses health and safety management systems and compliance with health and safety regulatory agency requirements, company requirements and facility requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support to Operations and Auxiliary areas in process related to Safety and Environmental management system
  • Chemical management and Hazard communication: provide GHS labels, SDS and control of chemicals in Operation and Support areas
  • Participate on incident investigations, root cause analysis and CAPA actions
  • Manage and perform regulatory studies related to STPS, Civil Protection, SEMARNAT
  • Evaluation, monitoring and signing of permits related to high risk and non-routine activities
  • EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Onboarding for new employees (hourly and salaried)
  • Perform Safety inspections to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions
  • Monthly EHS inspections
  • Participate in the preparation of ISO 14001 & 45001 internal and external audits
  • Collaboration on GSS & ECC audit readiness (SME in some cases)
  • Elaboration of purchase requisitions related to EHS services and supplies
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments considering processes and machinery & equipment (JSA/ HIRA)
  • Emergency equipment control, inspections and acquisitions
  • Participate in management of change of specifics area requirements
  • Perform PSSR format
  • Participate in productivity and core team meetings
  • Elaborate presentations
Experiences/Education - Required
  • Technical career in Environmental and Safety Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Professional career (completed, unfinished or in progress) in Environmental and Safety Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
  • 1- 2 years in similar position
  • Industry expertise
