Job summary

The Caterpillar Drivetrain team in Mexico seeks a senior engineer and design team lead for hydraulic components including transmission valves, gear pumps and engine oil pumps. You will provide design leadership through concept to production and support end customers.

Responsibilities include leading a team, mentoring engineers, creating designs that meet requirements, and collaborating with Quality, Manufacturing and U.S. Drivetrain Design teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on design of hydraulic components or systems.
• Direct knowledge in casting components design.
• Proficiency in Creo modeling.
• Demonstrated experience with DFMEA, APQP and PPAP.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with strong communication.

• Create new designs meeting technical and business requirements.
• Analyze End of Line test data and recommend improvements.
• Provide engineering support to hydraulic components facilities with Quality and Manufacturing teams.
• Complete Design FMEAs and Technical Reviews to establish risk and validation plans.
• Coordinate analyses to evaluate new designs.
• Work with suppliers and purchasing teams when sourcing parts.
• Provide guidance to resolve production part quality issues.
• Assess if part nonconformances are acceptable for use.
• Participate in APQP activities.

Job Summary

The Caterpillar’s Drivetrain team in Mexico designs and supports drivetrain components used across Caterpillar machines and OEM applications. We are looking for a senior engineer and design team lead for drivetrain hydraulic components including transmission valves, gear pumps and engine oil pumps. This position will provide design leadership through the entire lifecycle of the components, from concept to production implementation to production maintenance and supporting our end customers.

Responsibilities

• Team lead for 2-4 drivetrain hydraulic components engineers.
• Acting as a mentor and work coordinator for junior engineers.
• Creating new designs that meet all technical and business requirements.
• Analyzing End of Line test data and providing recommendations for problem resolution and design improvement.
• Providing engineering support to hydraulic components facilities, working in collaboration with the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams and U.S. Drivetrain Design team.
• Completing Design FMEAs and Technical Reviews to establish risk and corresponding validation plans.
• Completing and/or coordinating analysis activities to evaluate new designs.
• Working with suppliers and purchasing teams when sourcing parts to a supplier.
• Provide technical assessment and guidance to resolve production part quality issues.
• Assess if part nonconformances are acceptable for use.
• Participate in APQP activities.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering.
• Advanced English-speaking level is required

Skills the candidate must have

Technical Excellence

• Hands-on knowledge in design of hydraulic components or systems.
• Direct knowledge in casting components design.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering

• Proficiency in Creo modeling.

Product Design and Development

• Demonstrated application of DFMEA, APQP, and PPAP.

Effective Communications

• Project management or leadership knowledge.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:

• This position will be located in Caterpillar´s Cienega de Flores campus.
• Work schedule is set Monday to Friday 7am-4pm. (On-Site)
• This position may require up to 20% travel, domestic and international.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
