Overview
Eaton Corporation's Vehicle Group North America (VGNA) is seeking a Director of Operations.
This position can be based in our facility in Reynosa San Luis Potosí or Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Reporting to the VP Operations North America for VGNA, this role will be responsible for leading and driving the Manufacturing Operations function as well as the Continuous Improvement activities in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and cost of non-conformance (CONC) for several sites in the North America Region (including sites in Mexico).
The Director of Operations will be charged with engaging cross functional resources to lead a collective effort to drive improvement across the sites in the North American Region.
This role will ensure that execution and adherence occur in sites for disciplined processes and procedures across regional sites within VGNA.
There will be a heavy emphasis on attaining goals with consistent performance while equally utilizing Continuous Improvement / LEAN Tools.
This role requires significant cross functional collaboration with Sales Inventory, Operations and Planning (SIOP), Materials Management, Quality, Finance, and Operational Excellence teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct all division manufacturing operations activities to ensure completion of customer and business requirements
- Assist company leaders and senior staff member in the development and formulation of long and short-term planning, policies programs and objectives
- Implement a standardized Business Operating System to assess division and site Balanced Score Card metrics and coordinate actions to ensure schedule, cost, quality, CONC and safety goals are met
- Manage division and site processes to assess monthly financial performance and establish accurate forecasts for manufacturing profit, inventory, CONC, capital and other financial metrics
- Lead efforts across VGNA to implement lean management systems, lean tools and high performance work teams and standardize key processes including materials management and quality systems
- Execute an operational strategy that supports industry leading performance in cost
- Ensure that the sites achieve World Class Plant recognition by delivery of the Hi5 metrics (Safety - TRCR OTD, CONC, Inventory - DOH, Productivity - FLEX) and implements all Eaton Quality Best Practices and Quality Leading Metrics are at Green as a minimum per the Aerospace Criteria
- Lead projects and initiatives across VGNA in support of the manufacturing operations and group strategies
- Support Program Management integrated program teams (IPTs) with operations resources to ensure new product development activities deliver products that align to Operations strategy and performance objectives for cost and quality
- Assure that all manufacturing plants meet environmental, health, and safety requirements considering local regulations, Eaton policy and sustainability
- Build organization capability through assessment and management of key leadership positions, coaching of operational leaders and strategic development actions
- Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff - taking corrective action as necessary and in a timely manner in accordance with company policy
- Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations - consulting with the Human Resources Department as appropriate
- Manage resource investment in organization development, capital equipment and new technology to assure organizational, manufacturing, product and market leadership; and
- Establish and lead an effective capital management process
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 8-10 years manufacturing operations experience including plant management.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience leading and managing a significant segment / business unit of a large industrial manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer
- Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally as needed and required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the Light Vehicle industry leading in a manufacturing environment
- Background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools
- Broad knowledge of key operational systems including sales inventory operations planning (SIOP), materials planning systems (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and quality systems with diverse experience managing varied and complex manufacturing processes
- Strong leadership skills along with proven capability to deliver results and build high performance teams
- Strong operational and financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to lead multiple locations
- Bilingual skills in Spanish
Education
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required
- An Advanced degree is preferred
