KBR, Inc. seeks a Shipfitter/Welder (FN) to perform structural repairs, fabrication, welding, and related maintenance on vessels and fleet support systems. You will read blueprints, execute piping and hull work, and ensure compliance with PMS and 3M standards.

Essential requirements include four years of shipfitter or marine welder experience, familiarity with welding processes (arc, MIG, TIG), blueprint reading, and safety adherence. ABS certification is preferred but not required.

Formación

  • Familiar with structural systems of naval ships or commercial vessels.
  • Ability to read blueprints, shop mathematics, and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Certified PQS or equivalent training is a plus; ABS certification preferred but not required.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on vessels and related equipment.
  • Repair, fabrication, and installation of piping and hull structures.
  • Welding using arc, oxy-acetylene, MIG/TIG; fabricate jigs and forms.
  • Read blueprints, develop sketches, and select suitable materials.
  • Conduct NDT such as Dye-Penetrant as required by inspection.

Title: DG BOSS: Shipfitter/Welder (FN)
Responsibilities

Responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of vessel or craft and industrial plant equipment cognizant to A-06 Port Operations and all related structural work, including but not limited to:

  • a) Repair, removal, fabrication and installation of piping, production welding of hull plating and various structures.
  • b) Electric arc, oxy-acetylene or other gaseous welding or brazing processes necessary for structural repairs and fabrications, including manual, semi-automatic arc or gas welding methods (MIG or TIG) or combination of both.
  • c) Cutting, beveling and gauging ferrous and non-ferrous metals using manual, semi-automatic arc and gas flame equipment.
  • d) Layouts, fabrication of jigs, forms and work patterns during structural repairs, fabrications and installations.
  • e) Reading and interpreting blueprints and developing sketches as work guide.
  • f) Identifying metal or work piece characteristics and use of applicable repair/replacement material, electrode or fillers.
  • g) Ultrasonic Test Inspection and Non-Destructive Test by Dye-Penetrant or other applicable methods, as required in the inspection and performance of work.
  • h) Performance of assigned scheduled (PMS) maintenance requirements on boats, crafts and IPEs, compliant with US Navy 3M System.
  • i) Support to maintenance and repairs of Syncrolift & Transfer System.

Maintains awareness to safety requirements and all work areas clean and in good housekeeping. Performs other duties as required to support contract requirements of A-06.

Basic Qualifications

Familiar in structural system of U.S. Navy ships and/or commercial vessels. Knowledge in blueprint reading, shop mathematics, structural fabrications and shipboard welding processes. Must speak, read, and understand English language, both orally and in writing. Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health. Holder of a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

SPECIAL CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING Certified PQS 301 (Maintenance Personnel), Personnel Qualification Standard for Ship Maintenance and Material Management (3M) System. Trade School training in Welding Technology, shop mathematics, metal working and mechanical drawing. ABS Welder Certification is preferred but not necessary.

Education

High School graduate and vocational course related to Welding Technology. Formal schooling/training/apprenticeship course in Shipboard, Marine, or ABS Welding Technology is preferred but not necessary.

Experience

Minimum of four (4) year experience as Shipfitter journeyman or Marine Welder in Naval Ship Repair Facility or commercial shipyard/Industries.
