TC Energy is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Practice of Engineering in Mexico, providing technical leadership, governance, and multidisciplinary support while ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on establishing engineering standards, risk-based decisions, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver safe, reliable solutions across projects and operations in the Mexico Business Unit.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with professional registration in Mexico.
  • 10–15 years in oil, gas or chemical sectors with design experience.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to lead engineering departments and manage workload.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead the Engineering Practice in Mexico in alignment with corporate standards, Mexican regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Promote engineering governance and technical assurance across all disciplines.
  • Maintain and continuously improve engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and typical designs.
  • Support and champion continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes, systems, and business practices to enhance safety, performance, and business value.
  • Ensure process safety and risk-based engineering principles are embedded in all engineering decisions, projects, and operational changes, actively participating in early-stage assessments to identify and mitigate risks, while driving cost-effective engineering solutions for optimization, reliability improvement, and debottlenecking.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, compliant, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Ensure engineering activities support regulatory compliance, permit obligations, and business initiatives by providing engineering support to Regulatory, Commercial, Land, and Operational stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain qualified engineering contractors and service providers.
  • Review, approve or prepare technical scopes of work for external engineering services.
  • Oversee third-party engineering activities and ensure compliance with TC Energy requirements.
  • Assess engineering workload, establish priorities, and develop resource plans to meet business requirements.
  • Support successful execution of engineering projects within approved scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Promote effective collaboration between Engineering and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure technical information, engineering records, and design documentation remain accurate, current, and properly controlled.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and strategic direction for the Engineering organization.
  • Establish priorities, goals, and resource plans to support Operations, Integrity Programs, Project Development, Projects, and other business needs.
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching, development opportunities, recognition, and succession planning for Engineering personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, continuous improvement, owners' mindset, financial discipline and employee development.
  • Continue developing leadership competencies while maintaining current knowledge of company strategy, business objectives, and industry practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining technical software up to date and in accordance with corporate needs.
  • Possesses professional certification e.g., bachelor's degree or Engineering Degree with professional registration in México.

The opportunity

The Design Engineering department plays a critical role in supporting safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operations and project execution across the Mexico Business Unit.

We are seeking our Engineering Manager to lead the Practice of Engineering in Mexico, providing technical leadership, engineering governance, and multidisciplinary engineering support while ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.

Requirements
  • Between 10-15 years of experience in the Oil, Gas or Chemical sector, with pipeline or facility design engineering experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mexico engineering practice, standards, rules, and regulations and proficiency in applying them to projects and operations.
  • Detailed working knowledge of safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Engineering Departments including workload management, standards and procedures governance, projects implementation and design software management.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and identify implementation strategies to perform interdisciplinary engineering and related activities within a project.
  • Proven ability to interpret regulatory requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of office suite software, e.g. Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Specialized knowledge in one or more of the different discipline engineering areas.
  • Proven ability to develop and mentor staff.
