Job summary

Quona Capital is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design, implement, and operate ML/AI models that optimize risk underwriting and customer management. You will drive experiments, monitor model performance, and ensure governance, while mentoring junior data scientists.

Responsibilities include developing predictive models, evaluating LLMs, and collaborating with Credit, Product, and Tech teams to translate data insights into strategic actions.

Qualifications

• BS in a quantitative STEM field with 5+ years of analytics experience (or MS with 2+ years).
• Proficiency in Python data stack (Pandas, scikit-learn) and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with large datasets and version control (Git).
• Deep understanding of ML/AI models, LLMs, and agentic systems via APIs or open-source tools.

Responsibilities

• Model Development: Build predictive models for customer origination and management using diverse data sources.
• Experimentation: Run A/B tests and causal inference to evaluate models and LLMs.
• MLOps & Monitoring: Write scalable Python for drift tracking and retraining, support CI/CD pipelines.
• Governance: Ensure documentation, validation, explainability, bias analysis, and regulatory compliance.
• Communication & Mentoring: Convey findings to executives and cross-functional teams; mentor junior data scientists.

About the Role

You will design, implement, and operate Machine Learning and AI models—including LLMs and agentic systems—to optimize our risk underwriting and customer management strategies. You will drive continuous experimentation, monitor model performance, ensure strict governance compliance, and translate data into strategic business decisions while mentoring junior data scientists.
