Data Linguist - Mexican Spanish
Job Type: Contractor: Remote but able to work US Central Time (8am-12pm)
Responsibilities
- Work closely with engineers by providing linguistic expertise and direction for language specific NLP, data generation, annotation on projects, and / or dialogue analysis and modeling.
- Including writing documentation and guidelines, reviewing data and test results and proposing improvements and new features.
- Perform tasks such as data annotation, phonetic transcription, speech synthesis, machine translation, natural utterance generation, grammar checking, ASR transcription, automation and other NLP related tasks.
- Building a thorough understanding of data labeling conventions and provide support to internal team and external partners.
- Localizing established guidelines from English into Spanish.
- Test data and product and help Identify and eliminate bugs.
- Delivering high quality data output under aggressive deadlines.
- Working autonomously with minimum direction.
- Handling unique data analysis requests from a range of data customers.
- Contributing to process improvements to reduce handling time and improve data output.
- Diving deep into issues and implement solutions independently.
- Providing quality expertise to other team members and coaching improvements.
- In addition, the Spanish Language Data Linguist will need to quickly understand changes in response to customers' requests and change workflows accordingly.

Basic Qualifications
- BA or BS degree.
- Native level fluency in Spanish (Written, Verbal and grammar).
- Business level fluency in English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Excel.
- Familiarity with voice assistants (Bixby, Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana, etc) on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA / BS degree in Linguistics or equivalent practical experience working with language data.
- Native level fluency in English, both verbal and written.
- Experienced working with data vendors.
- Have data curation, data quality or software QA experience.
- Have Python or other programming experience.
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Independent, proactive, and self-motivated with record in timely delivery of requests.
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal and solution-oriented attitude.
