Nexon Automation is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, commission, and optimize electrical and automated control systems for industrial machinery. You will implement complex control algorithms, work with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, and develop HMI solutions to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Engineering, advanced English, and 3–5 years in industrial automation, with hands-on experience in commissioning and start-up activities.

Formación

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related Science discipline.
  • Languages: Advanced English.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years integrating industrial automation applications.
  • Experience developing moderately complex control applications.
  • Demonstrated participation in machinery commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Knowledge of Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs.

Responsabilidades

  • Executes specialized technical services for internal and external customers, locally, remotely, or on-site.
  • Designs industrial control architectures and selects communication protocols and programming languages.
  • Identifies failure modes and implements preventive actions; performs risk and safety assessments.
  • Analyzes PLC logic, sequences, interlocks, alarms, networks and sensor signals.
  • Develops PLC and HMI modifications; integrates robots, vision systems, VFDs and safety devices.
  • Optimizes cycles, operating modes and equipment interaction; validates and tests systems.

Knowledge

Programming and troubleshooting of Siemens and Allen‑Bradley PLCs.

  • Proficiency in TIA Portal, STEP 7, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk.
  • Development and modification of HMI systems.
  • Troubleshooting of PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, and industrial communication networks.
  • Reading and interpretation of electrical and pneumatic schematics, as well as automation sequences.
  • Knowledge of industrial vision systems, preferably Keyence, Cognex, or equivalent solutions.
Main Responsibilities
  • Executes specialized technical services for internal and external customers, either locally, remotely, or on‑site. The objective is to ensure that assigned control systems operate efficiently and in compliance with industry and quality standards.
  • Designs industrial control architectures by selecting the appropriate communication protocols, networking equipment, and programming languages required to program, configure, and integrate industrial automation systems.
  • Identifies potential failure modes and implements preventive and corrective actions integrated into the design of electrical and control systems. Performs risk and safety assessments. Validates, commissions, and tests the equipment and systems assigned to the project.
  • Analyze PLC logic, sequences, interlocks, alarms, networks, signals, and the physical operating conditions of the process.
  • Identify the root causes of recurring failures, production losses, micro‑stoppages, quality issues, and unstable process behavior.
  • Develop technical hypotheses, execute controlled tests, and validate identified root causes using objective evidence.
  • Develop and implement modifications to PLC programs, HMI applications, communication systems, automatic sequences, recipes, alarms, and peripheral systems.
  • Design and implement improvement projects for existing equipment to increase process availability, reliability, maintainability, and overall performance.
  • Optimize cycle times, operating sequences, fault recovery routines, manual and automatic operating modes, and equipment interaction.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, machine vision systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, sensors, safety devices, conveyors, and peripheral equipment.
