Nu México, a leading digital bank in Latin America, is seeking a senior Regulatory Compliance professional in Mexico City. The role focuses on AML and banking regulations, licensing efforts, and advisory support across business units.

The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic fintech environment. Based in Mexico City with a hybrid/onsite work model, the candidate will interact with regulators and internal teams to ensure compliant product launches and ongoing

Qualifications

• 7+ years in regulatory compliance, AML or related areas for Banks, SOFIPO and/or Fintechs.
• Experience filing and obtaining financial licenses such as Fintech or Bank.
• Experience with CNBV & Banxico regulatory requirements for Financial Institutions.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures from scratch and implement them.
• Ability to conduct regulatory advisory and interpretation for business areas.

• Align requirements toward new financial licenses.
• Evaluate new products for regulatory compliance.
• Provide advisory to teams about regulations and establish new processes or controls.
• Monitor inquiries from Regulators, Auto Regulatory bodies or Auditors.
• Create and update Compliance policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to enhance Compliance systems.
• Support regulatory reviews or audits.
• Identify regulatory gaps and track their remediation.

The Compliance Team has a very special role in our mission: support the company’s growth by identifying the regulatory risks that NU faces; designing and implementing controls to protect Nu from such risks; and by providing advisory to the Business on regulations and internal policies to create the best product or service that follows with these external and internal regulations and standards.

Responsibilities Assigned To You Might Be Related To

• Research regulations and project management for its implementation.
• Project management related to new regulations and licensing processes.
• Lead efforts and align requirements towards new financial licenses.
• Evaluate from a compliance perspective new products and features to be launched.
• Keep other teams abreast of requirements by researching regulatory and filing information; writing and communicating guidelines.
• Provide advisory to other teams about the regulation to establish new processes or controls.
• Monitor and respond to inquiries received from Regulators, Auto Regulatory bodies or Auditors.
• Create and update Compliance policies and procedures.
• Liaise and work closely with various teams to enhance systems and processes related to Compliance.
• Coordinate or support regulatory reviews or audits.
• Support in identifying regulatory gaps and tracking its implementation.

Requirements

• +7 years' or above experience in regulatory compliance, AML or regulatory areas for Banks, SOFIPO and/or Fintechs.
• Proven experience in filing and obtention of financial licenses such as Fintech or Bank and project management for that.
• Experience with CNBV & Banxico regulatory requirements for Financial Institutions.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures from scratch and implement them.
• Ability to conduct regulatory advisory and law interpretation by providing consultation to business areas as well as internal clients.
• Ability to tackle complex problems involving several topics/variables, such as business, regulatory, finance and product.
• Ability to work and lead through influence multidisciplinary teams (product, software engineering, data science, analysts and customer service).
• Self-starter and ability to work independently.
• Great team player, communication (written and verbal) and listening skills.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish.

The position is based in Mexico City, Mexico
