Job summary

Intellectt Inc. is seeking an Optical Engineer to design and optimize advanced exterior lighting systems for automotive applications in Mexico.

You will lead optical design efforts for headlamps, tail lamps, and light guides, and work with cross-functional teams to meet performance and regulatory requirements. The role requires hands-on experience with optical simulation tools, photometry, and validation testing, plus collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive robust

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of automotive exterior lighting experience.
• Proficient with optical simulation software (LucidShape, Ansys Speos, Zemax).
• Experience designing reflectors, lenses, light guides, or thick-wall optics.
• Strong knowledge of geometric optics, photometry, and light distribution.
• Knowledge of automotive lighting photometric requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize optical systems for automotive headlamps, tail lamps, reflectors, lenses, and light guides.
• Perform optical simulation, photometric analysis, and light-distribution optimization.
• Validate optical performance through physical measurements and laboratory testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical design, manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams.
• Support prototype development, product validation, and production troubleshooting.

Required Skills

• 3–5 years of automotive exterior lighting experience.
• LucidShape, Ansys Speos, Zemax, or equivalent optical simulation software.
• Optical design involving reflectors, lenses, light guides, or thick-wall optics.
• Geometric optics, photometry, and light-distribution analysis.
• Knowledge of automotive lighting photometric requirements.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Preferred: CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, physical lamp testing, ECE/SAE/FMVSS/CCC regulations, and injection-molded optical components.
