Symbotic is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician II to support installation, troubleshooting and calibration of automated systems at our site in Mexico. You will work on AS/RS, robotic vehicles, conveyors and related electro-mechanical equipment, applying strong electro-mechanical diagnostics and PLC troubleshooting skills.

  • Associate degree or equivalent in electronics, automation, mechatronics, manufacturing, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with mechanical or automated systems.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting with schematics and diag data.
  • Proficient in preventive inspection tasks (cleaning, lubrication, measurements).
  • Ability to multitask and meet productivity in a dynamic environment.
  • Independent worker following procedures and documentation.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to LOTO and safety protocols.

Responsabilidades

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain AS/RS, robotic vehicles, lifts, conveyors and related equipment.
  • Diagnose downtime using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, mechanical and electrical maintenance on automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLC issues using diag tools and testing devices.
  • Calibrate and replace components on robotic systems and automation gear.
  • Monitor performance and help maximize throughput by resolving constraints.
  • Maintain CMMS documentation of inspections, repairs and root causes.
  • Communicate repair status and recommended actions to leadership.
  • Operate automation safely for troubleshooting and validation activities.
  • Carry out minor fabrication, mounting, alignment and installation tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement and root-cause analysis programs.
  • Mentor Maintenance Technician I in troubleshooting and best practices.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including LOTO and PPE protocols.

The Automation Maintenance Technician II will support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of Symbotic's automated and robotic systems at operations site. This role is ideal for hands-on technical talent with experience in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electrical controls, PLC troubleshooting, robotics, conveyors, and automated material-handling environments. The ideal candidate has worked in high-volume manufacturing, logistics, automotive, aerospace, food processing, distribution, fulfillment, or advanced manufacturing operations.

What you’ll do
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), robotic vehicles, lifts, conveyors, sensors, motors, robotic arms, and related electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment downtime using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, HMI interfaces, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, mechanical, and electrical maintenance on automation systems, robotics, and the autonomous bot fleet.
  • Troubleshoot system issues using PLC diagnostics, multimeters, electrical testing devices, and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Inspect, calibrate, repair, and replace components on robotic vehicles, Automated Adapters, Vertical Lifts, robotic arms, and automation equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and support maximum throughput by identifying and resolving equipment constraints.
  • Maintain detailed CMMS documentation, including inspections, repairs, root cause findings, parts usage, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate production-impacting issues, repair status, and recommended corrective actions to operations and maintenance leadership.
  • Safely operate automation systems to support troubleshooting, recovery, validation, and robotic vehicle retrieval activities, including work in restrictive environments.
  • Perform minor fabrication and installation activities, including mounting hardware, aligning sensors, installing supports, and modifying equipment as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and reliability-focused maintenance programs.
  • Mentor and assist Maintenance Technician I team members on troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and site safety requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, PPE, and work-at-height procedures.
  • Maintain 5S standards and ensure clean, organized work areas.
  • Support operations by performing Cell Operator functions when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
  • Associate degree or equivalent certification/experience in electronics, automation, automotive, mechatronics, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with mechanical or automated systems.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability, including interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic data.
  • Proficiency in performing preventive inspection tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checks, and electrical measurements.
  • Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet productivity requirements in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently using procedures, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to Lockout/Tagout and other safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong attendance, and consistent production of high-quality work.
  • High sense of urgency and ability to react quickly to operational needs.
  • Basic conversational English preferred.
Our Environment

Site-based position. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently needs to work at heights of up to 45 feet and in confined spaces as narrow as 24 inches. This includes tasks that require standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must adhere to all safety requirements and protocols, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout and fall protection safety protocols. You will need to climb steep stairs to access the structure and may be required to regularly walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation setup. You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground. Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.

Lo que harás
  • Inspeccionar, diagnosticar, reparar y mantener sistemas automatizados de almacenamiento y recuperación (AS/RS), vehículos robóticos, elevadores, transportadores, sensores, motores, brazos robóticos y equipos electromecánicos relacionados.
  • Diagnosticar tiempos de inactividad de equipos utilizando diagramas eléctricos, diagramas de cableado, planos mecánicos, interfaces HMI, software de diagnóstico y equipos de prueba.
  • Realizar mantenimiento preventivo, correctivo, mecánico y eléctrico en sistemas de automatización, robótica y la flota de robots autónomos.
  • Resolver problemas del sistema utilizando diagnósticos de PLC, multímetros, dispositivos de prueba eléctrica y herramientas avanzadas de diagnóstico.
  • Inspeccionar, calibrar, reparar y reemplazar componentes en vehículos robóticos, Adaptadores Automatizados, Elevadores Verticales, brazos robóticos y equipos de automatización.
  • Monitorear el rendimiento del sistema y apoyar la máxima productividad identificando y resolviendo restricciones de los equipos.
  • Mantener documentación detallada en el sistema CMMS, incluyendo inspecciones, reparaciones, hallazgos de causa raíz, uso de piezas y acciones correctivas.
  • Comunicar a Operaciones y al liderazgo de Mantenimiento los problemas que afecten la producción, el estado de las reparaciones y las acciones correctivas recomendadas.
  • Operar de manera segura los sistemas de automatización para apoyar actividades de diagnóstico, recuperación, validación y recuperación de vehículos robóticos, incluyendo trabajos en espacios restringidos.
  • Realizar actividades menores de fabricación e instalación, incluyendo montaje de hardware, alineación de sensores, instalación de soportes y modificaciones de equipos cuando sea necesario.
  • Apoyar iniciativas de mejora continua, análisis de causa raíz y programas de mantenimiento enfocados en la confiabilidad.
  • Capacitar y apoyar a los Técnicos de Mantenimiento I en las mejores prácticas de diagnóstico y mantenimiento.

Lo que necesitarás

  • Sólida capacidad de diagnóstico electromecánico, incluyendo interpretación de diagramas eléctricos, esquemas de cableado y datos de diagnóstico.
  • Dominio de tareas de inspección preventiva como limpieza, lubricación, verificación de tolerancias y mediciones eléctricas.
  • Capacidad para realizar múltiples tareas, gestionar prioridades y cumplir con los requisitos de productividad en un entorno dinámico.

Nuestro entorno

Posición basada en sitio. El empleado deberá caminar con frecuencia y utilizar las manos y los brazos para alcanzar objetos. El empleado frecuentemente necesitará trabajar a alturas de hasta 45 pies (13.7 metros) y en espacios confinados de hasta 24 pulgadas (61 cm) de ancho.
