Amazon, Tepotzotlán, Mexico, is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. You will fault find, troubleshoot, and improve PLC controls for conveyors, sortation, scanners, and related equipment, driving uptime and safety.

Responsibilities include training technicians on control systems, supporting global networks with data visualization, and coordinating with Global Controls and Operations Engineering to document systems and maintain backups.

Formación

  • Experience with PLC controlled automation and diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment.
  • 2+ years of automated conveyor systems and controls experience.
  • Experience in engineering and estimating material handling and storage systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in oral and written communication in English.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsabilidades

  • Be the site level SME for all controls systems and sensors within the building. Hands-on monitoring, fault finding and repair to maximize equipment availability.
  • Train technicians in control systems fault finding to raise site knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Global Controls network to monitor MHE metrics and provide visualization and data to internal customers.
  • Participate in or own continuous improvement projects coordinated by Global Controls network.
  • Work with Global Controls Engineering and Operations Engineering to document systems and maintain backup libraries.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment with global teams.
  • Support other sites in the Mexico network as required.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies for code conformance.

Join us in the Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. We maintain and optimize technologies in the Global Amazon Warehouse & Delivery Network.

We are looking for motivated, customer-focused people who want to join our team as an Automation Engineer (AE). The focus of the AE role is to fault find, troubleshoot and improve controls solutions for automated material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, scales, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, and control cabinets. The AE will also provide training to the Engineering Technicians on device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Key job responsibilities
  • Be the site level Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all controls systems and sensors within the building. Work in a hands-on manner to actively monitor, fault find and repair systems in order to provide a high level of equipment availability to internal customers.
  • Train technicians in the basics of control systems fault finding in order to raise the level of knowledge within the site.
  • Work within the Global Controls network to enhance the capability to monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics and provide visualization and data to internal customers by means of troubleshooting and prioritizing.
  • Actively participate in or own continuous improvement projects coordinated by the Global Controls network.
  • Work with Global Controls Engineering and Operations Engineering to ensure all systems are correctly documented and that accurate backup libraries are maintained.
  • Work alongside global teams to support the installation and commission of new equipment.
  • Support other sites in the Mexico network as required.
  • Interpreting both mechanical and electrical drawings plus understanding and developing improvement strategies for code conforming.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment
  • 2+ years of automated conveyor systems and controls experience
  • Experience in engineering and estimating material handling and storage systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
  • Experience in oral and written communication in English
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in dealing with material handling, flow and capacity
  • Experience with Industrial control systems, both hardware and software
