The Automation Engineer at Molex Guadalajara will lead the introduction and integration of new equipment for optical fiber NPIs, ensuring robust, scalable automation solutions from installation to release. You will work with cross-functional teams and international suppliers to drive line startups and continuous manufacturing excellence.

With a focus on PLC programming, HMI development, robotics, and precision vision systems, you will help build high-precision automated manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel for equipment reviews and supplier support.
  • Experience automating manufacturing equipment and new line/plant startups.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Ladder Logic/Structured Text) and HMI development.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, robotics, sensors, and machine vision.
  • Ability to work with international suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, debugging, qualification, and release of new automated equipment for optical fiber manufacturing.
  • Coordinate FAT, installation, SAT, qualification, validation, and ramp-up activities including new line startups.
  • Drive automation projects from concept to implementation, including automating machines from scratch.
  • Collaborate with local and international suppliers, translating product and process requirements into machine parameters and qualification activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving automation systems, robotics, vision systems, and precision mechanisms.
  • Train and support manufacturing and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless handover and ongoing process excellence.
  • Ensure sensitive optical components are handled to prevent damage or contamination.

The Automation Engineer will support the introduction and integration of new equipment for Optical Fiber NPI projects. This role is responsible for receiving, installing, debugging, qualifying, and releasing automated and semi-automated equipment into production, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust and scalable solutions.

Our Team

You’ll join the Automation Engineering team at Molex Guadalajara, collaborating with Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Operations. The team is dedicated to transitioning processes from manual or semi-automated to fully automated, supporting the manufacturing of optical fiber cable assemblies and related products.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the installation, debugging, qualification, and release of new automated and semi-automated equipment for optical fiber manufacturing.
