Fitch Ratings seeks an Associate Director to cover LATAM Consumer & Retail sectors from Mexico City, Monterrey, Sao Paulo, or Rio de Janeiro. The role leads research, modeling, and rating discussions for corporate clients across LATAM.

Strong communication, curiosity, and results orientation are essential in a team-driven environment. The position offers opportunities to mentor colleagues, present to committees, and engage with management teams across major markets.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree minimum; MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including coverage or knowledge of Retail & Consumer sectors.
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency (verbal and written); native Spanish or advanced Spanish proficiency.
  • CFA candidate preferred, CFA/CPA a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality of LATAM Consumer & Retail companies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models.
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees.
  • Conduct meetings with LATAM Consumer & Retail industry management teams.
  • Communicate rating rationale to external audiences (investors, analysts, media).
  • Write timely, effective research on topical issues.
  • Participate in evaluation of other credits within the team and related groups.
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and industry conferences.
  • Mentor junior members of the LATAM Consumer & Retail team.
  • Engage with executive-level management to deepen business understanding.

Associate Director, LATAM Corporates – Consumer & Retail – Mexico City/Monterrey/Sao Paulo/Rio de Janeiro

Fitch is seeking an Associate Director for coverage of the Consumer & Retail sector based out of our Mexico City, Monterrey, Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro office.

Qualitative credentials will weigh meaningfully in the selection of the candidate. A healthy sense of intellectual curiosity is critical, along with a willingness and ability to attack and explain topics of analytical complexity. Fitch is a team-oriented work environment, so excellent communication skills are essential, as is a high productivity work-ethic and results oriented mindset.

We’ll Count On You To
  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of companies in the LATAM Consumer & Retail team.

  • Involvement in communicating rating rationale to external audiences (primarily institutional investors, sell-side analysts and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports.
  • Write timely and effective research on topical issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within the Consumer & Retail team, as well as other related credit groups.
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations, regulatory bodies etc.
  • Mentor junior members of the LATAM Consumer & Retail team.
  • Participate in meetings with Consumer & Retail industry executive-level management teams to strengthen understanding of their business and industry.
What You Need To Have
  • Bachelor's degree at minimum, MBA or other advanced degree a plus;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, which must include some coverage or knowledge of the Retail & Consumer sectors;
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience a plus;
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change;
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment;
  • Advanced English proficiency (verbal and written);
  • Native Spanish speaker or advanced Spanish proficiency (verbal and written);
  • Expertise in Excel and Word;
  • CFA candidate preferred, CFA/CPA a plus.

  • A professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis and well-developed financial statement analysis and modeling skills;
