OPmobility is seeking an Assembly Equipment Engineer in Monterrey, Mexico, to drive design and realization of assembly equipment, ensuring a smooth plant handover and ongoing process improvements.

You will work within a cross-functional, multicultural team on manufacturing equipment, PFMEA validation, ergonomic studies, and supplier collaboration, leveraging your engineering background and English proficiency.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • Experience in assembly engineering within automotive OEM/Tier 1 or equipment makers.
  • Solid knowledge of assembly equipment, manufacturing processes, and automation.
  • Understanding of HSE and ergonomic principles in manufacturing.
  • Experience with suppliers, validation, commissioning and process optimization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural teams and good communication.
  • Professional proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

  • Follows design and realization of assembly equipment per requirements and cost/quality targets.
  • Ensures proper equipment handover to the plant with training.
  • Participates in knowledge improvement of assembly technologies and lessons learned.
  • Follows HSE/ergonomics standards.
  • Contributes to conception of assembly processes with leadership.
  • Supports technical choices to improve the process.
  • Analyzes supplier offers with purchasing to select best solution.
  • Validates equipment studies and PFMEA, ergonomics studies.
  • Updates feasibility studies and perimeter changes.
  • Validates equipment in supplier workshop and tunes at plant.
  • Ensures documentation and risk analyses.
  • Participates in capability validation and productivity projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Follows up design and realization of assembly equipment (serial or prototyping) according to customer requirements, project specifications (costs, timing, quality), assembly standards/best practices and HSE/ergonomics requirements
  • Ensures proper equipment handover to the plant (performance convergence, training for plant team)
  • Participates in technical knowledge improvement of assembly technologies domain and in lessons learnt for projects under his/her responsibility.
  • Follows HSE and ergonomics standards and rules
  • Participates in the conception of the assembly process and equipment with Engineering Program Manager, Manufacturing Program Manager and associated extended team
  • Supports MPM/EPM for technical choices in order to improve the process.
  • Establishes technical and economic analysis of suppliers’ offers, together with purchasing department, in order to select the best solution.
  • Follows up the design and the realization of assembly equipment.
  • Realizes functional specifications regarding project elements and standard elements.
  • Validates equipment study, including supervision of PFMEA, ergonomics study and the choice of possible solutions.
  • Updates/adapts former feasibility study and technical choices if needed (perimeter changes)
  • Validates equipment in supplier workshop, fine tune the equipment in the plant and ensure smooth transfer to plant team.
  • Ensures the tuning of the equipment is properly done following instructions given by EPM/MPM, to converge to the product conformity.
  • Validates necessary documentation for each equipment
  • Analyzes results of action plans and risks.
  • Participates in capability validation for each equipment.
  • Participates in lessons learnt activities, productivity projects led in the assembly department.
Required Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Previous experience in assembly engineering, manufacturing, industrialization, or assembly equipment project management within an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, or equipment manufacturer environment (experience in automotive lighting products is strongly preferred)
  • Solid knowledge of assembly equipment, manufacturing processes, industrial automation, and industrialization projects.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and ergonomic principles in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with suppliers, equipment validation, commissioning, and process optimization is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
