Job summary

Ernst & Young AE seeks a senior power system operation planning professional to develop secure and economical operating plans while coordinating generation and transmission outages. The role requires extensive experience in load forecasting, generation scheduling, and cross-border trades within GCC contexts.

You will analyze network impacts, maintain security requirements, and support maintenance planning with rigorous technical reporting to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ten years or more in power system operation planning in a senior post.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Hands-on use of Siemens Spectrum SCADA and EMS.
• Strong knowledge of how a grid is run in normal and in emergency conditions.
• Strong experience of cross-border power trades and their contracts.

Responsibilities

• Determine secure and economical operating modes and allocation of generation across power plants and generating units
• Forecast short- and medium-term electrical loads and assess generation availability required to meet demand
• Assess scheduled outages of transmission assets and identify mitigations for system impacts
• Coordinate generation energy-availability requirements to support annual maintenance planning
• Analyze critical network loading and recommend short- and medium-term operational solutions
• Review and update planned and automatic load-shedding schedules in line with network development and GCC requirements
• Assess substation busbar sectioning strategies and future substation expansion connectivity from an operational-security perspective
• Conduct operational studies relating to the GCC Interconnection Grid including assessment of interconnection faults and required reporting

Key Responsibilities
