Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer specializing in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to install, commission, maintain, and repair GIS equipment at customer sites. You will lead troubleshooting efforts, perform diagnostic testing, and ensure reliable GIS operation while collaborating with cross-functional project teams.

You will develop SOPs, share technical knowledge with technicians, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
Strong knowledge of GIS components, operating principles and failure modes.
Experience with GIS installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Ability to read electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of GIS equipment (circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches).
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on GIS systems.
Troubleshoot GIS malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
Develop maintenance procedures following manufacturer specs and best practices.
Provide guidance to technicians and engineers on GIS operation and maintenance.
Collaborate with project teams on GIS design reviews and upgrades.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and test results.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
