Job summary

KUWAIT STEEL is seeking a Refractory Team Leader to coordinate maintenance, repair, and relining across EAF, ladles, and tundishes during shifts. You will ensure the reliability of high-temperature equipment, enforce safety standards, and support production in coordination with other departments.

Responsibilities include guiding refractory crews, overseeing installation and relining activities, verifying work quality, coordinating material readiness, and documenting activities in SAP or approved

Qualifications

Must have experience in refractory operations within a steelmaking plant (EAF, ladles, tundishes).
Experience with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and production monitoring.
Strong knowledge of safety standards, ISO procedures, risk prevention and operating guidelines.

Responsibilities

Coordinate refractory masons and ladle bay operators on procedures and safety.
Oversee refractory installation, maintenance, and relining in EAF, ladles, tundishes.
Verify gunning, patching, casting, ramming, and brick lining per standards and safety rules.
Coordinate material availability from store to prevent delays.
Ensure correct heat-up and dry-out procedures per manufacturer guidelines.
Collaborate with Production, Mechanical, and Electrical to minimize downtime.
Support timely decision-making in complex operational situations.
Assess readiness of on-line ladles before tapping authorization.
Document shift activities, logs, and material usage in SAP or manual systems.
Record and report incidents via INIR system; lead toolbox talks on safety.
