Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or related technical certification.
• One year related experience may substitute for one year of education.
• Must be CAC eligible and/or the ability to obtain a CAC.
• Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License.
• Minimum of three years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, and hazardous waste management.
• Knowledge of OEBGD, DoD environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Military background and training beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Implements a standardized ESH program, which is Management System based.
• Performs risk analysis, develops programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance, identifies needed resources and budget, identifies required training, performs and documents training, and submits monthly performance metrics.
• Performs ESH inspections and implements employee reward and recognition program.

**This position will be physically located in Kuwait**

EH&S Specialist is responsible for monitoring and providing technical support to an assigned area of the program. Specialist will evaluate work sites to ensure operations are in compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements, provide technical support to area supervisors/managers in corrective actions for compliance deficiencies, conduct observations, conduct program evaluations, and perform root cause analysis (RCA). Specialist will develop training packages and instruct training packages. Specialist will be required to operate monitoring equipment and conduct specialized testing of physical, chemical, and environmental stressors. Specialist will write technical reports and will interact with the middle management team.

  • Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and
  • Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Military background and training beneficial.
• Skills:
  • Ability to instruct small and medium groups of people, Competent in computer operations to include Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a strong ability to work independently.
• Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
