Job summary

Avanta Works in Al-Kuwait is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and contribute to menu planning. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and a chance to lead a busy kitchen in Al-Kuwait.

Responsibilities include supervising cooks, ensuring food presentation standards, and maintaining health and safety compliance while supporting Head Chef with menu development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a professional kitchen setting.
• Working knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, procedures etc.
• Excellent understanding of hygiene regulations and safety standards.
• Hands-on experience with kitchen equipment (grills, ovens).
• Ability to work long hours standing up in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other food preparation workers.
• Determine how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
• Prepare all menu items in compliance with recipes.
• Monitor food stock and place orders when necessary.
• Assist Head Chef with menu planning and development.
• Monitor portion sizes, preparation methods, temperature control, and other aspects of food production to ensure quality standards are met.
