Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a talented and skilled Control Room Operator in Ferro Silicon Plant to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. You will be responsible to monitor and control the Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) and associated process systems from the control room, ensuring safe, stable, and efficient Ferrosilicon production. Operate the plant through the PLC system, monitor critical process parameters, coordinate with field operators, and support commissioning and production activities in compliance with company HSE and operational procedure.

• Monitor and control the Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) and associated plant systems through the PLC system. Ensure process parameters such as furnace power, electrode operation, cooling water, raw material charging, and auxiliary systems are maintained within established operating limits to achieve safe and stable plant operation
• Monitor process alarms and operating conditions, coordinate with the Shift In-Charge, Furnace Operators, Tappers, Stoking Car Operators, and maintenance personnel to respond promptly to process deviations, equipment abnormalities, and operational requirements during and production.
• Maintain accurate operating logs, shift reports, production records, process data, and alarm history. Report operational abnormalities, support troubleshooting activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process stability, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

• Vocational/Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Operations, Production, Process Technology, Engineering, or related technical field.

Preferred Experience:

• Vocational/Technical Certificate: Minimum 5 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, or similar heavy industrial operations, including control room and furnace operation activities.
• Diploma: Minimum 3 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, or similar heavy industrial operations, including control room and furnace operation activities.
• Bachelor's Degree: Minimum 2 years of experience in Ferro Silicon, ferroalloy, steel, smelting, or similar heavy industrial operations, including control room and furnace operation activities.

Relevant experience may include:

• Experience operating DCS/PLC-based process control systems in continuous production environments.
• Experience in Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF), electric furnace, ferroalloy, steelmaking, or similar furnace operations involving process monitoring and production control activities.
• Experience working in shift-based operations requiring close coordination with field operators, maintenance teams, and production supervisors.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Knowledge of Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations, process parameters, and associated production systems.
• Ability to operate and monitor DCS/PLC systems and respond appropriately to alarms, process deviations, and equipment abnormalities.
• Ability to monitor furnace power, electrode operation, cooling water systems, raw material charging, and auxiliary process systems.
• Ability to maintain accurate operating logs, production records, process data, and shift reports.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Furnace Operators, Tappers, Stoking Car Operators, Maintenance personnel, and Shift In-Charges to maintain stable plant operation.
• Ability to identify abnormal process conditions, support troubleshooting activities, and elevate major operational issues in accordance with approved procedures.
• Skilled in operating process control systems safely and efficiently while maintaining production targets and product quality requirements.
• Strong adherence to Safety Standards, SOPs, permit-to-work requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and emergency procedures.
• Strong situational awareness, communication, coordination, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
