HPE Group in Modena, Italy, seeks a Verification & Validation Expert Engineer to design, commission, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop test benches for driveline and vehicle system development. You will define verification strategies, develop test specs, and manage the test lifecycle with a focus on quality and reliability.

The role requires expertise in Embedded C, MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, and Python for test automation, plus hands-on experience with CAN/UDS/J1939 networks and calibration

Formación

• Master’s degree in Automation Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
• Expertise in Embedded C (MISRA C), MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow and Python for test automation.
• Experience with CAN, UDS and J1939 networks.
• Experience in diagnostics, measurement and calibration using CAN tools, INCA or equivalents.
• Experience with requirements management, test/issue tracking, and version control tools (Jira, Polarion, Codebeamer, DOORS, Git).
• Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 25119 and Automotive SPICE frameworks.

Responsabilidades

• Design, commission, and operate HiL test benches for driveline and vehicle system development.
• Define test strategies and plan V&V activities.
• Develop test specifications, test cases, and test reports; manage measurement metrics.
• Manage test and defect lifecycle, including issue tracking and reporting.
• Perform system, integration, and functional testing on HiL benches and static benches.
• Verify software architectures, interfaces, CAN/J1939/UDS, and diagnostic functionalities.
• Provide technical coordination of test activities and mentor team members.

Position

Verification & Validation Expert Engineer

The candidate will join the Verification and Validation team, where they will be responsible for the design, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test benches, as well as managing the test lifecycle and tracking anomalies identified during verification activities.

Responsibilities and Activities

• Design, commission, and operate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) test benches to support driveline and vehicle system development.
• Define test strategies and plan verification and validation (V&V) activities.
• Develop test specifications, test cases, and test reports, and manage measurement metrics.
• Manage the test and defect lifecycle, including issue tracking and reporting.
• Perform system, integration, and functional testing on Static Benches and HiL test benches.
• Verify software architectures, interfaces, communication protocols, and diagnostic functionalities, including CAN, UDS, and J1939.
• Provide technical coordination of test activities and mentor team members.
  

Requirements

Technical:

• Master’s degree in Automation Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
• Excellent knowledge of Embedded C (MISRA C), MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, and Python for test automation and validation.
• Experience with communication networks and protocols, including CAN, UDS, and J1939.
• Experience in diagnostics, measurement, and calibration activities, using CAN tools, INCA, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with requirements management, test and issue tracking, and version control tools, such as Jira, Polarion, Codebeamer, DOORS, and Git.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 25119, and Automotive SPICE standards and frameworks.
• Experience in rapid prototyping using platforms and tools such as dSPACE, NI, Vector, ETAS, Speedgoat, or equivalent solutions.

• Ability to analyze and break down issues affecting complex mechatronic systems, distinguishing between software, hardware, model-related, and HIL test bench integration anomalies.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned activities, and drive continuous improvement.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with customers, suppliers, and technical stakeholders.
