Underwriting Associate (Hybrid; m/f/x/d) – Swiss Re

Join our dynamic Operations team in Milan for the Engineering and Construction portfolio and become an essential part of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ success story in the Italian market. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse professionals committed to excellence while supporting our corporate customers and their brokers with specialized insurance solutions.

About The Role

As an Underwriting Associate, you will be at the heart of our operations, collaborating closely with local E&C Underwriters, EMEA Operations teams, and peers across Europe. Your focus will be on ensuring smooth processing of specialized insurance business for Engineering and Construction projects such as industrial plants, infrastructure, and civil works.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate information in systems and tools, including documents and process changes for E&S specific projects
• Review and collect insurance and legal documentation and reflect corresponding terms and conditions into systems
• Follow-up on outstanding documents or items according to established guidelines
• Engage regularly with external customers including brokers and insureds
• Prepare and process policies, certificates and all other contractual documentation
• Collaborate on the development of Standard Operating Procedures and system improvements
• Coordinate with team members across different locations
• Support the preparation of international program structures in collaboration with Underwriting Analysts and underwriters

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
• Relevant corporate insurance experience in Engineering and Construction Line of Business – familiarity with EPC/FIDIC contracts, project schedule and construction site documentation
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Italian and English
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

• Experience in interpreting terms and conditions of insurance legal documents
• Knowledge of international program handling in corporate insurance
• Demonstrated ability to identify and report problems while working with detailed information

Salary

For Italy, the base salary range for this position is between EUR 31,000 and EUR 51,000 for a full‑time role. The specific salary offered takes into account the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role as well as the applicant’s profile, including education, qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.

Hybrid Work Model

We anticipate a hybrid work model where you are expected to be in the office at least three days per week.
