A leading open-source technology firm is looking for an Ubuntu Linux Kernel Engineer to enhance collaboration with silicon partners such as NVIDIA and Qualcomm. The role involves developing optimized kernel versions, diagnosing kernel issues, and improving automation tools for kernel delivery. Candidates should have strong C programming skills, a solid understanding of hardware-level systems, and be comfortable in a remote work setting, along with excellent communication skills. A generous development budget and opportunities for travel are included.
Canonical is looking to broaden its silicon enablement squad to help Ubuntu Linux shift from a desktop OS to a full platform for silicon manufacturers such as NVIDIA, Xilinx, MediaTek and Qualcomm. The Kernel Team builds, maintains and distributes the Linux kernel for Ubuntu; we need an engineer with strong hardware‑level software development skills to support our silicon partners and optimise performance on their SoCs.
Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source. We publish Ubuntu, one of the most important open source projects and the platform for AI, IoT and the cloud. Canonical has been a remote‑first company since 2004 and we recruit on a global basis, setting a very high standard for people joining us.
Canonical is proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We value diversity of experience, perspectives and background, and we ensure fair consideration for all applicants.
