A global technology company in Trieste is seeking a Trainee for System Simulation. The role is full-time and temporary, focusing on supporting the development of marine system simulation software. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of simulation, data analysis, and collaboration skills. This position offers a structured induction program aimed at enhancing marine engineering knowledge.

Competenze

  • Basic knowledge of static and dynamic simulation of marine systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Python and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases is a plus.
  • Knowledge of modern software development techniques (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills and customer-service mindset.
  • Basic financial understanding and commercial orientation.
  • Out-of-the-box thinking and innovative mindset.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (B2–C1).

Trainee, System Simulation

Wärtsilä. Position is temporary, full‑time, at Trieste, Italy. The role follows a structured induction program and a selected training path aimed at increasing simulations, data analysis and marine engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Support development of integrated marine system simulation software and tools.
  • Develop and manage flexible simulation models that support iterative development of alternative marine system concepts to enhance customer value.
  • Develop data‑driven design methodology within Wärtsilä.
  • Support sales and capture teams in concept evaluation of alternative machinery concepts with strong focus on customer value.
  • Support strategic planning and competence development of sustainable world‑class marine system simulation capabilities within Integrated Systems and Solutions.
  • Contribute to development studies on innovative marine propulsion technologies.
  • Create and present solid value propositions for assigned sales opportunities, tuned to the specific customer's values and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of static and dynamic simulation of marine systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Python and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases is a plus.
  • Knowledge of modern software development techniques (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills, customer‑service mindset, and team player with willingness to work across organizational boundaries.
  • Basic financial understanding & commercial orientation.
  • Out‑of‑the‑box thinking and innovative mindset.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (B2–C1).
  • Academic background related to industrial engineering (e.g., mechanical, naval, electrical), information technology or industrial management; other analytical/informatics profiles are evaluated positively.
