Sapienza Università di Roma invites applications for a research position in the Neurophysiology area. The project focuses on designing and executing experiments to quantify Ca2+ permeability of NMDA-type glutamate receptors expressed in heterologous systems under various pharmacological conditions.
Applicants will work with patch-clamp electrophysiology and time-resolved fluorescence microscopy to monitor Ca2+ influx and intracellular calcium changes, contributing to a high-impact neuroscience

The scientific activities within the scope of this project will involve designing and implementing experiments to measure the Ca²⁺ permeability of human NMDA-type glutamate receptors expressed in heterologous systems under different conditions and in the presence of various pharmacological modulators. The methods employed will include patch-clamp electrophysiological recording techniques combined with time-resolved digital fluorescence microscopy, allowing simultaneous monitoring of Ca²⁺ inward currents and changes in intracellular free Ca²⁺ concentration.
