Job summary

KPIT Technologies Ltd. in Torino seeks an experienced JAVA Software Engineer to develop Java-based backend services for diagnostics and OTA offboard software. You will focus on vehicle diagnostics, telemetry data processing, and cloud-to-vehicle OTA deployment pipelines.

• Minimum 5 years in backend software engineering (Automotive domain).
• Core Java Development: Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, RESTful API Design and Development, Microservices Architecture, Maven / Gradle, JUnit, Integration Testing, OOD and Design Patterns
• Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Containerization (Docker)
• Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Good to have: API Gateway and Service Security

Job description

We are seeking an experienced JAVA Software Engineer to develop Java, Diagnostics, and OTA offboard software. You will focus on vehicle diagnostics and Over-the-Air (OTA) updating mechanisms. We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to build backend infrastructure supporting offboard automotive solutions. This role manages telemetry data, remote diagnostics, and cloud-to-vehicle Over-the-Air (OTA) deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable backend services and API architectures using Java/Spring.
• Implement offboard diagnostics systems to process vehicle telemetry data.
• Manage cloud infrastructure for secure, reliable offboard Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
• Utilize CANoe environments to test backend API interactions with simulated vehicle endpoints.

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum 5 years in backend software engineering (Automotive domain)

Core Java Development: Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, RESTful API Design and Development, Microservices Architecture, Maven / Gradle, JUnit, Integration Testing, Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Design Patterns

• Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Containerization (Docker)
• Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Good to have: API Gateway and Service Security

Database & Data Management

• Good to have: NoSQL Databases (MongoDB, Cassandra)
• Good to have: Telemetry Data Processing

OTA (Over-the-Air) Updates

• OTA Software Update Architecture
• Good to have: Software/Firmware Deployment Pipelines, Secure Update Mechanisms, Package Management and Versioning
• Good to have: Vehicle Software Configuration Management

Additional Skills:

Familiarity with Vector CANoe or similar simulation tools to trace backend data packets down to the vehicle network layer

Professional fluency in both English and Italian is a strong plus to help our international teams and local stakeholders work together smoothly
