Catalyst is seeking a motivated Sustainability Intern to join our Milan office for a paid, six‑month placement run in partnership with the Politecnico di Milano.

The role splits between dynamic energy modelling in IES and certification work for BREEAM and LEED; you will build energy models, review drawings, prepare evidence, and help draft technical notes for clients and assessors.

Open to master's students or recent graduates who want to link it to a final thesis.

Competenze

• Pursuing a degree in building energy or a related field, with grounding in energy efficiency.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Interest in net zero, energy modelling and green certifications.
• Attention to detail; well evidenced documentation.
• Proficient in Excel and data handling.
• Fluent in English for project work and reports.
• Organised and proactive with ability to manage multiple workstreams.
• Willing to attend site visits and travel outside Italy.

Mansioni

• Build and run dynamic energy models in IES and test design options with the project team.
• Produce operational energy assessments and forecasts of primary energy consumption.
• Analyse the impact of passive design, HVAC and other active systems on building performance.
• Support net zero and decarbonisation strategies for existing buildings and new developments.
• Review design and construction documentation against BREEAM and LEED credit requirements and flag gaps.
• Prepare and organise evidence for each targeted credit and maintain credit trackers and scorecards.
• Draft technical notes, credit templates and sections of modelling and certification reports.
• Liaise with clients, design teams and contractors, and support submissions to the assessor.
• Participate in project meetings and site inspections.
