Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Mechanical Application Engineer in Italy to translate customer requirements into robust subsea equipment solutions. You will lead mechanical input for tenders, early studies, and project execution, collaborating with product, manufacturing and commercial teams.

The role emphasizes design reviews, documentation, and mentoring of junior engineers, with a focus on API/ISO standards and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design or application engineering within subsea oil & gas.
• Strong understanding of Subsea Production Systems, including Christmas Trees and Tubing Hangers.
• Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MathCAD and Teamcenter.
• Experience with DOORs and SmartPDF for requirements management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering input for subsea tenders, studies and early engagement activities.
• Interpret client specifications into compliant, cost-effective technical solutions.
• Develop and review mechanical designs, layouts and documentation for subsea systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, manufacturing, sourcing, commercial and project engineering.
• Provide technical support to commercial teams during bids and client presentations.
• Ensure solutions meet API, ISO and customer requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement.
• Support risk assessments, design reviews and lessons learned.
