A renewable energy consultancy is seeking a BESS Engineer based in Milan, Italy, to oversee the design and development of energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of experience in utility-scale BESS projects, will demonstrate broad project knowledge, and have proficiency in CAD software, all while ensuring project timelines and performance standards are met. This role involves supervising permitting processes, managing technological selections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for optimal project outcomes.

The Green Recruitment Company is searching a BESS Engineer to work in a European IPP to support the storage projects in Italy.

The vacancy is based in Milan.

The storage engineer will lead design and development of storage projects from the asset owner perspective.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of the Permitting and EPC storage projects
• Establish system architecture, identify critical components, and enhance battery performance to support grid stability, frequency control, and energy trading.
• Manage the selection of battery technologies, oversee system integration, and lead validation efforts to ensure compliance with safety and performance benchmarks.
• Draft and review technical documents, including detailed system schematics and specifications.
• Support the sales teams in setting up communication frameworks with Distribution System. Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) for service delivery.
• Supervision of the commisioning process and supporting the budget planning (Capex and Opex).
• Support the evaluation of project risks and contribute to refining technical strategies for optimal outcomes.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—such as project management, procurement, construction, and operations—to drive smooth and efficient project delivery.
• Offer guidance and technical expertise to junior engineers and team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
