About the role

You will be embedded in the Operations department and work side‑by‑side with the team to streamline and automate back‑office processes.

This is not a traditional engineering role; the focus is on process automation, back‑office tooling and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Operations teams to analyse workflows, pain points and manual processes.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and checks using SQL, scripting, or integrations.
  • Enhance and maintain the back‑office system, building new features to support operational needs.
  • Develop monitoring and alerting systems to enable proactive operational management.
  • Create dashboards (e.g. Tableau, Metabase) to give clear visibility of key operational metrics.
  • Investigate operational bugs and issues, identify root causes and deliver fixes or automation to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with technology teams when dependencies arise, ensuring solutions align with business priorities.
  • Propose and drive a longer‑term automation strategy, including AI/ML opportunities to further improve efficiency.
Requirements
Essential
  • Strong SQL skills (data extraction, transformation and automation).
  • Experience with Scala.
  • Experience developing back‑office or internal tools (full‑stack capability ideal).
  • Proven ability to identify and deliver quick wins while building toward a long‑term strategy.
  • Experience building lightweight dashboards or visibility tools (e.g. Tableau, Metabase, or similar).
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks or scripting (Python, Node.js, etc.).
  • Problem‑solving mindset, able to investigate root causes of operational issues.
  • Ability to work directly with non‑technical stakeholders and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience in fintech, financial services or other regulated industries.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications for automation and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Understanding of alerting/monitoring systems.
What We Are Looking For
  • An investigative/entrepreneurial and curious mindset.
  • A hands‑on builder who enjoys solving problems quickly.
  • Someone comfortable rolling up sleeves to fix bugs as well as setting strategy.
  • A communicator who can work across teams, bridging the gap between operations and technology.
What We Offer
  • The chance to shape the automation strategy of a fast‑growing fintech.
  • Exposure to both technical and operational challenges, with autonomy to deliver impact.
  • A supportive environment where experimentation and problem‑solving are valued.

The contract will be a 6‑12‑month fixed term.

Benefits
  • Health insurance, wellness plan.
  • Fee‑free investments on Moneyfarm platform.
  • Career development opportunities.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Regular office social events.
