You will manage cutting-edge automation projects, lead commissioning activities, and coordinate with shipyards for successful deployment of Valmet DNA systems. This role requires 4-7 years of experience in similar settings, a degree in Engineering, and proficiency in both Italian and English. Travel is required over 75% of the time.

Valmet, a global leader in automation solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and professional Site Project Manager to join our Automation Business Line team within the marine sector. This role offers an opportunity to manage cutting-edge automation projects and ensure the successful deployment of Valmet’s Distributed Control Systems (Valmet DNA) in collaboration with our global customers.

Type of contract: Permanent

Location: Marghera/Monfalcone, Italy

Overview

Valmet is seeking a Site Project Manager to lead commissioning and on-site activities for Valmet DNA systems in marine projects, coordinating with shipyards and client teams to ensure successful deployment during construction, commissioning, and sea trials.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for the Valmet DNA system, ensuring seamless integration during ship construction and commissioning phases.
• Coordinate and supervise on-site activities, serving as the primary point of contact between Valmet and the client, particularly with the shipyard’s electrical workshop.
• Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution on-site while maintaining detailed and accurate reporting to internal and remote teams.
• Facilitate collaboration between Valmet teams and clients, ensuring efficient project execution and milestone achievement.
• Support system testing both at the shipyard and during sea trials.

Travel

This position requires travel (>75% of working time) to Valmet locations, customer shipyards (Monfalcone/Marghera/Sestri), and other project sites across Italy and internationally (including Poland, Finland, France, and Germany).

Qualifications

• A degree in Automation Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a technical diploma with equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Valmet systems will be considered a plus.
• 4-7 years of experience in similar roles, preferably with on-site project management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical personnel on-site.
• Proficiency in Italian and English at a professional level (mandatory).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects in a dynamic environment.
