Avio Aero is seeking a Service Shopfloor Supervisor to lead daily operations in a regulated aviation environment. You will manage assignments, approve attendance, and drive lean initiatives across MRO/CRO cells, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will coach teams, coordinate with engineers and maintenance, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in a high-precision manufacturing setting.

Job Description Summary

As a Service Shopfloor Supervisor, you will lead daily operations in a highly regulated aviation environment, ensuring capacity, execution, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards across CoE service activities, including MRO and CRO for military and civil components. You will manage daily work assignments, approve time and attendance, and foster a strong team-oriented culture.

This role is responsible for driving shopfloor execution within established operating disciplines, standard practices, and procedures. You will lead lean transformation efforts, optimize processes, equipment, and material flow, and standardize methods to ensure reliable, consistent plant operations and production performance.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities:

• Lead and promote a team-based organization focused on specialized, quick-turnaround repair services for internal and external customers
• Coordinate daily shopfloor activities, assigning work, monitoring progress, and ensuring safe and efficient execution across MRO/CRO cells
• Provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned cells/teams, including support on plant systems, equipment and maintenance activities
• Provide leadership in the areas of training and development, equipment maintenance, process, and procedure implementation
• Communicate with internal/external customers to ensure that all commitments are met
• Provide total shop / group leadership in the attainment of goals with respect to safety, quality, cost, production and compliance
• Provide ongoing supervision and counseling for employees, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training
• Work with customers, functional leaders, and internal staff to meet production and product support requirements
• Facilitate the leadership team in decision-making and problem solving and provide effective communication across the plant
• Provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned Cells/Teams
• Support Shop Leader in the strategic planning of manpower, equipment and other resources
• Lead and sustain lean transformation initiatives on the shopfloor (e.g. value stream mapping, layout optimization, flow & pull systems, standard work, 5S, visual management)
• Use prior Process Engineering experience to define, validate and improve repair and production processes, including methods, routings, cycle times and tooling
• Partner with Engineering, Quality and Maintenance to improve process capability, reduce variability and ensure robust methods for both civil and military components
• Translate continuous improvement opportunities into structured projects, with clear targets, milestones and measurable impact on SQDC
• Coach the team in problem solving (e.g. PDCA, 8D, root cause analysis) and in the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools
• Be accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost and compliance targets (SQDC)
• Ensure full adherence to aviation legislation and EASA/EMAR Part 145 requirements, including documentation, traceability and configuration control
• Drive implementation and sustainment of standard work, procedures and visual management on the shopfloor
• Support the Shop Leader in strategic planning of manpower, equipment and other resources needed to sustain capacity and meet production plans
• Contribute to production planning and control, ensuring alignment between load, capacity and material availability
• Facilitate the leadership team in decision-making and problem-solving, and provide effective communication and coordination across the plant

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience managing complex and structured teams
• Proven experience as a Process Engineer and/or Production Supervisor, with responsibility for process definition, industrialization, and shopfloor leadership
• Previous leadership experience; experience in technology, material management processes, or shop operations is a plus
• Strong knowledge of production, shop operations, and production control in a manufacturing environment
• Solid technical understanding of plant systems, equipment, and maintenance processes
• Strong continuous improvement mindset, with focus on standardization, waste elimination, and SQDC
• Demonstrated experience leading lean transformation projects, including value stream mapping, layout optimization, standard work, 5S, Kaizen, and problem-solving initiatives
• Proven ability to analyze and solve problems using data-driven, structured methodologies
• Fluent in Italian and English
• Valid work visa, in accordance with local regulations, is required

Contract Level:

CCNL metalmeccanico – level B2

Salary range for this role:

39.675 euro - 52.900 euro + Performance-related bonus + PDR up to 6000 euro

Compensation will be defined within the published salary range, reflecting the candidate’s experience, developed skills, and overall alignment with the role’s responsibilities.
