Senior Technical Program Manager, Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle has a unique software stack that provides best‑in‑class performance targeted towards reading books. With weeks of battery life and smooth page‑turns, a customer can immerse themselves in reading their books.

Role

The Sr. TPM will own delivering the GenAI vision for Kindle E‑reader devices, building GenAI features to delight customers with reading and writing experiences. A Sr. TPM in this team will own a charter related to Kindle E‑reader and will be responsible for partnering with multiple development teams in maintaining and delivering GenAI features.

Responsibilities
  • Own the execution of cross‑org projects.
  • Work with product managers and engineering teams within and outside the org to define scope, execution planning and program updates.
  • Gather requirements and distill them into clear, working‑backwards BRDs.
  • Use broad context from multiple businesses to set and drive a 3‑year vision and 1‑year operating plans.
  • Set and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Guide a team of software development engineers using clear customer requirements.
  • Manage the program including scope, schedule, reviews and education sessions.

To be successful in this role, you need to be analytical and technical enough to know the science and engineering systems to independently make informed decisions in discussions. The successful candidate will drive all parts of the program management and software delivery life‑cycle—scoping, planning, analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, launch, and operations. Strong planning and organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication, self‑drive, and a pride in delivering high‑quality results in a fast‑paced environment are required.

Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross‑functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross‑functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi‑million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
