Senior Specialist Piping System – Lloyds Register

Location: Trieste, Italy

What we're looking for

We are currently recruiting for one Engineering System Piping Specialist or Senior Specialist to join our team as part of the Global Technical Support Office in Lloyds Register's marine division. In Trieste, the Technical Support Office is recognised as a Centre of Expertise for passenger ships and yachts. The team includes internationally renowned technical experts who provide guidance to clients and maritime organisations to protect lives, livelihoods and the environment at sea.

The role
  • Perform approvals of ship arrangements and issuance of certification in compliance with relevant statutory instruments and Lloyds Register Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships.
  • Support the quality and growth of Lloyds Register's marine business globally by providing technical advice and support to clients.
  • Discuss/present design appraisal conclusions with external clients and suggest/influence alternative solutions where appropriate.
What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent (minimum two-year programme).
  • Knowledgeable of the marine environment with up to 10 years' experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems (e.g., piping, machinery) and ability to handle technically complex issues.
  • Proficiency with LR management tools such as SAP Business ByDesign and Digital Work Bench.
  • Familiar with basic risk assessment techniques and project management.
  • Good customer relationship skills in a project environment and stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in English and Italian.
Preferred but not required

Experience of design or plan appraisal, design support, or site survey of engineering systems:

  • Machinery (power, propulsion and generation, winches, steering, etc.)
  • Piping System
  • Environmental (emissions abatement, ballast water, MARPOL)
  • Energy Storage (pressure containment systems)
  • Cryogenic (e.g., LNG/Gas propulsion), preferably for passenger ships, RORO ferries and yachts
