Our Sky Italia CT&I teams are looking for passionate Broadcast Distribution Support Engineer to work with multiple systems focusing on video acquisition, routing, encoding processing and multi-distribution platform broadcasting and streaming for Italy and Germany services. You’ll be lucky enough to support the video deliveries across our multiplatform stack (DTH, OTT, IPTV, DTT), making sure that the best possible video experience is being delivered to our customers across all Sky’s propositions.

While continuously monitoring the services, the candidate will be asked to mitigate performance issues of our systems by analyzing KPIs. and taking actions accordingly to their variation. In coordination with other ops teams, the candidate will be asked to handle new business initiatives and deliver the best possible video experience to our customers. This includes determining the cause of an issue, working on fixes and applying them.

As part of the role, to warranty the best and continuous experience to our customers, it is required to cover in shift on-duty weekly support

Basic qualifications

• A degree or qualification in Broadcast Engineering/Media Technologies/Telecommunication/Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field, or relevant technical experience;
• A highly effective, positive, and influential communication style; demonstration of excellent people skills, communication skills, and coaching
• Good knowledge of Broadcast IP standards and implementation including SMPTE2022, SMPTE 2110, AoIP(AES67) and PTP
• Experience with principal scripting languages (like bash, C#, python, ansible)
• Experience with troubleshooting and identification of issues root cause and log interrogation;
• Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence;
• Experience of development/technical support experience;
• Be able to work any shift as assigned, as dictated by the needs of ops coverage
• Good Knowledge of English (spoken and written)

Preferred qualifications

• Understanding of video compression and transport stream analysis;
• Knowledge of video compression and transport stream analysis, and familiarity with main video and audio format codec;
• Understanding of cloud technologies (like Docker, Kubernetes);
• Experience in the use of CI / CD tools and RESTful Api;
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and must be flexible enough to deal with different technical skill levels, skill sets and a highly dynamic work environment and schedules;
• Ability to creatively approach problems not covered by existing procedures is important;
• Experience with monitoring and log aggregations tools (e.g. ELK stack, Grafana, Dataminer, Zabbix, checkmk)
