Job summary

Kong Inc. is seeking a senior- to staff-level engineer to design and lead development of the AI Gateway, built with Golang. You will drive scalable, reliable, cloud-native systems, mentor peers, and push for best practices across testing, observability, and CI/CD in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building software in a systems language (Golang or Python).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and API design.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Interest or experience in AI/ML infrastructure (LLM orchestration, vector databases, model serving).

Responsibilities

• Design, own, and lead development of high-performance AI gateway components in Go.
• Influence roadmap and architecture for scalable, reliable systems.
• Architect solutions to prevent debt and ensure 99.99% uptime.
• Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence.
• Drive testing, observability, and CI/CD in a distributed environment.
• Collaborate with product, SRE, and engineering teams to deliver great DX.
• Resolve complex issues and analyze system performance bottlenecks.
