Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Signalling System Engineer in Turin, Italy. The role requires managing wayside installation design, routing cables, and ensuring compliance with railway signaling standards.

You will lead end-to-end ERTMS delivery, oversee testing and commissioning, and coordinate with contractors, railway authorities, and internal teams to ensure regulatory and safety requirements are met. English fluency and Italian proficiency are expected.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Signalling System Engineer. The successful candidate will have solid experience in the rail industry, managing wayside installation design and routing cables along the track and within technical rooms. This position is based in Turin, Italy.

Accountabilities

on Signalling System on projects with multi signalling technologies:

• Technical Leadership: Lead end-to-end ERTMS delivery, acting as the final technical sign-off for subsystem specifications, design, and integration.
• Project Management: Define, plan, and manage signalling project milestones, budgets, and resources (QCD - Quality, Cost, Delivery).
• System Integration & V&V: Oversee Verification & Validation (V&V) activities, including testing and commissioning of ERTMS Level 2/3, GSM-R, and Automatic Train Protection (ATP), CBTC.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with contractors, national railway authorities, and internal teams to ensure compliance with CENELEC standards and regulatory requirements.
• Design & Engineering: Develop or adapt technical solutions, including requirement analysis, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) management, and application rules
• Requirements Management – Ensure the definition and management of System and Signalling System Requirements; ensure the implementation of Requirements Management Process assuring Signalling subsystems requirements allocation and relevant requirements development up to the final validation, with particular focus on Client/contract and design requirements.
• Interface Management – Ensure the definition and management of all subsystems interfaces with particular reference with signalling system interfaces; scheduling and technical coordination with a systematic and effective approach of the technical resolution of internal and external interfaces during all project phases.
• Signalling System Design – Ensure the definition of Signalling system design documentation with particular reference to overall Signalling Architecture, Signalling system functionalities and principles, including the verification activities of the documents related to the technical integration for all the Signalling Subsystems. Perform Gap Analysis with respect to standard solution in term of Signalling System functionalities and identification of requirements to be apportioned to signalling subsystems. Manage the configuration of software deliveries on site and in lab for signalling subsystems according to project targets and schedule.
• Execution of Signalling System tests on site. Participate to Signalling Factory Acceptance test for what concerns main signalling equipment
• Ensure a contact point for project team and customer with regard to the signalling system; Follow up of approval process with authorities. Management of closure pending until final approval. Support to Commissioning Manager and Project Engineer for the final approval of the system.

Required skills/Knowledge

• Proven experience in CBTC or ERTMS/ETCS, including knowledge of trackside/onboard equipment and system integration.
• Deep understanding of railway signaling principles, CENELEC standards, and hardware/software applications.

Education/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree/Master's degree or equivalent technical disciplines.

Languages

• English fluent.
• Italian proficiency

Alla posizione si applica il vigente CCNL per l’industria metalmeccanica privata e l’installazione di impianti, con inquadramento nel livello B3, ai sensi della relativa disciplina di classificazione del personale. Fork/Retribuzione Annua Lorda (€): 40.000 - 52.000.
