Senior Sales Manager - Freight Forwarding (Air & Ocean)

Location: The role is largely remote. With the focus being to either work from home or be out in the field meeting with clients. It is only necessary to attend the Rome office a couple of times per month or less.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Sales Manager to join our client, a global leader in the freight forwarding and international logistics sector. The role will be responsible for developing new commercial opportunities in the international sea and air freight sector, contributing to the growth of the client portfolio and the consolidation of the company's presence in the national and global market.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage new B2B commercial relationships with import/export clients.
  • Promote sea and air freight services, in synergy with the operational and pricing teams.
  • Analyse clients' logistical needs and propose customized solutions.
  • Monitor the market, competition, and trends in international traffic flows.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, negotiation, and contract closing.
  • Ensure the achievement of agreed revenue and margin targets.
  • Collaborate with branches and overseas partners to develop new routes and business opportunities.
Requirements
  • Sales / Business Development experience in freight forwarding or international shipping companies.
  • Knowledge of major sea and air routes and international transport dynamics.
  • Ability to read and negotiate rates with airlines, shipowners, and overseas agents, leveraging the global business to achieve the best rates together.
  • Strong aptitude for business development and building long-term relationships. The organisation will support you with leads, but they are really looking for someone with a hunter mindset, who enjoys bringing in new business and wants to reap the rewards of this.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • English is the only language required, although others are appreciated.
  • Proficiency in IT tools and commercial CRM systems.
