Senior Requirements Engineer – Hitachi Rail

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Senior Requirements Engineer to work in Pistoia, Italy. The role supports a fast‑paced environment and combines administrative, strategic, and technical responsibilities across the project life cycle.

About the Role

The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks from requirement management and system engineering support to defect analysis and KPI reporting. The position is based in Pistoia – IT.

Accountabilities
  • Maintain and configure the Requirement Management project database.
  • Provide project engineering support for requirement management throughout the project life cycle.
  • Support system engineering by developing requirements while preserving traceability.
  • Define the Requirement Management Plan (RMP) and ensure adherence.
  • Analyze defects and incidents to identify root causes.
  • Implement and maintain the Requirements Engineering process across the project life cycle.
  • Perform KPI analysis related to requirements.
  • Offer technical support to enhance project deliverables (e.g., CAD, GPLM).
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • In‑depth knowledge of Requirements Management discipline.
  • Expertise with IBM DOORS and DXL Language.
  • Ability to liaise with clients and system design authorities to confirm requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze stakeholder needs and translate them into clear project/system requirements.
  • Create and maintain requirements documents in DOORS.
  • Generate progress and KPI reports for requirement management.
  • Knowledge of the V life cycle.
  • Basic knowledge of Rail Transit sub‑systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, teamwork and stress‑management skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role (preferred).
Education / Qualifications

Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology qualifications or an equivalent technical background.

Languages

English fluent (minimum B2 level).
